Micromax Launches Funbook ICS tablet for Rs 6,499

Micromax on Tuesday forayed into the burgeoning tablet PC market with its ‘FunBook’ priced at Rs. 6,499.

The device, targeted at the education sector, will be manufactured in India at the company’s manufacturing unit in Haridwar.According to the company, this tablet will offer both education and entertainment content in an affordable package. Android fans will be pleased to know that the device runs the latest Android 4.0 (ICS) out of the box.

Priced at Rs 6,499, the Micromax Funbook has a 0.3 megapixel (VGA) front camera and 512 MB RAM. It is available in two colours - slate grey and midnight black.



It comes bundled with Tata Photon 3G dongle to keep you connected on the go. It also offers HDMI connectivity and Wi-Fi Internet connectivity.
The tablet has an internal memory of 4GB, which can be expandable up to 32GB. It is said to support 1080p video playback.
The Funbook tablet comes engineered with a 2800mAh battery, which can give users browsing time of approximately 5 hours. The tablet is also light in weight.

The company has partnered with Pearson and Everonn to make educational content available on the tablet PC. “Users need to just pay Rs. 799 for educational content of a particular class and they can get access to the multimedia content from our partners,” Mr. Mehrotra said, adding that the partners would also help in taking the device to various educational institutions.
